PM inaugurates Integrated Check Post at Moreh- India-Myanmar border

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh. The ICP is an integrated multi-purpose airport like complex which is setup to provide smooth cross-border dedicated passenger and cargo movement with world class state- of- the- art immigration, custom and border security facilities under one roof. The project has been proudly executed by RITES Ltd for Land Port Authority of India (LPAI), MHA, and GOI.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the Integrated Check Post at Moreh will facilitate custom clearance, foreign currency exchange, immigration clearance etc. and going to improve ease of living for the people of the State. The Prime Minister said that the Union Government and the State Government of Manipur are both working with the vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. He praised the Go to hills, go to villages" programme of the State Government. The Prime Minister explained how better road rail and air connectivity is being provided to the North East, with the overall vision of "Transformation through Transportation. Manipur has an important role to play in New Indias growth story. He said the North East is being transformed, and projects stuck for decades are being completed.

 The ICP at Moreh has facilities for passenger immigration, cargo handling and is designed to handle about 1 lakh passenger per annum & import/export of 100 trucks per day. The ICP is equipped with weighbridge, warehouse, and refrigerated goods compartment with 24x7 monitoring through CCTV & PA systems.

With the development of ICP Moreh, another milestone project has been delivered to the north-east which will further boost connectivity & trade with South-East Asia.
